Collaborative agreement between Capital Idea and St. David's HealthCare to train individuals in identified healthcare careers

Nursing Academy

Provide counselors and students with an exposure to the variety of opportunities available in nursing and healthcare.

Middle school and high school health science technology students. High school counselors.

School at Work (SAW)

School at Work (SAW) is a career development system for entry-level workers in the healthcare industry. Its two pillar approach combines education with career planning. SAW’s blended-learning instructional model applies accelerated learning principles and delivers continuing education on-site at the employer location.

Entry-level staff seeking to improve academic skills for job enhancement and advancement.

Austin Community College (ACC) MOU

Collaborative partnership between ACC and St. David's HealthCare. Provides financial assistance to ACC to increase enrollment in the nursing program.

Students at ACC entering the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. Allows early enrollment/registration for declared nursing majors for St. David's HealthCare employees.

English at Work (EAW)

English at Work provides customized language instruction to employees at the workplace. The goal is to provide essential language instruction to employees with limited English proficiency to increase organizational effectiveness, retention as well as employee and patient satisfaction.
This 26 week program engages employers and employees in developing lessons that are specific to the workplace and relevant to the employee’s job and work skills. The program emphasis is on listening and speaking while covering Workplace Basics, Customer Service, Workplace Health and Safety, Employee Responsibilities customized to meet our needs.

Staff needing to acquire or improve basic English speaking skills.

Spanish at Work

Spanish at Work provides customized Spanish instruction to employees at the workplace. The goal is to provide build a solid base of functional Spanish to increase customer service as well employee and patient satisfaction.
The 20 hours course teaches clinicians the 100 most common power Spanish verbs and supplemental vocabulary/phrases which is tailored to their daily work environment. Interactive classes focus on spoken practice, writing and listening to effectively communicate wants and needs to our customers.

Staff needing to acquire or improve basic Spanish speaking skills.

Technogrow

Incorporates videoconferencing and administered through the Institute for Learning, is an innovative solution to expand the delivery of educational programs and utilization of resources not only to the Austin Market but also to El Paso. The project will provide much needed training on a 24-7 basis.

The project will deliver interactive programs to employees home facilities which focus on developing our employees and improving safe patient care.
