Congratulations!You are a leader in one of the premiere healthcare organizations in Texas; St. David’s HealthCare!

To get started with the Leadership Academy, please review the Eligibility Requirements, First Steps, Core Curriculum and Service Excellence Curriculum.

Eligibility

Completion of the Leadership Academy Core Curriculum is mandatory for all Directors, Managers, Supervisors and Charge Nurses. In addition, team leads and other staff may be designated by their Director as Leadership Academy participants. Director approval is required in writing for non-management staff.

First Step

Getting started is really simple! Click Classes and register for the first class: Essential Skills for HealthCare Managers, a prerequisite for other Leadership classes. The Leadership Academy tracking log and pertinent program information is presented in this class.

Core Curriculum

These nine courses are considered mandatory and are required in order to graduate from the Leadership Academy. Courses must be completed within a one-two year time frame.

Service Excellence Curriculum

In order to achieve service excellence, supervisors, managers, charge nurses and directors are learning how to hardwire excellence into the organization. By incorporating specific behaviours and processes that consistently provide patient-centered care, we decrease anxiety and improve patient outcomes.

The following classes focus on St. David's HealthCare Service Excellence initiative and are required of most Directors*, Managers*, Supervisors and Charge Nurses. Check with your Director to identify which of the following classes you should attend:

  • Introduction to the Must-Haves Nursing Staff (formerly known as Rounding, AIDET/Key Words at Key Times)
  • Introduction to the Must-Haves Non-nursing Staff (formerly known as Rounding, AIDET/Key Words at Key Times)
  • Peer Interviewing and the First 90 Days
  • HCAHPS- Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Provider Systems
  • High-Middle-Low Performers

*As a Director or Manager, if you attended the Leadership Quarterly in which this subject was originally taught, you have satisfied this requirement.
