New Employee Orientation

Orientation for all new St David's HealthCare (SDH) employees is a vital part of your employment process. To help you become familiar with the information, schedules and expectations for your orientation process, we have provided you with schedules and information you will need to have a smooth and successful orientation. *To view pre-employment requirement for nursing, please scroll to the bottom of the page.

Market New Employee Orientation (NEO)

New Employee Orientation is required by all SDH employees, regardless of location and is held every other Monday, unless due to a holiday. Topics covered in NEO include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Infection Control
  • SDH Employee Health & Safety Program
  • Ethics and Compliance
  • SDH Customer Service Expectations
  • Environment of Care

Orientation starts promptly at 7:30 am until 4:30pm in the North Austin Medical Center Auditorium (2nd floor). Please be on time and dress in business casual attire.

New Director Orientation (NDO)

If you are a newly hired Director or Manager, the Leadership Academy offers an orientation just for you! This is a two day orientation program, offered two consecutive Fridays. It covers a variety of topics important to new Directors and includes overviews of: Information Systems; Finance & Productivity; Human Resources; SDH Customer Service Initiative. New PCT Orientation - PCT Bootcamp

St David's Institute for Learning in association with Austin Community College offers a PCT Boot Camp for newly hired clinical technicians. The program is intended to provide basic skills required for the clinical technical level, particularly for those with limited clinical experience. The program lasts for approximately two weeks and begins on the Wednesday immediately following Monday's New Employee Orientation (NEO). Students must be registered by their manager or supervisor to be eligible to attend and attendance of ALL class dates are MANDATORY. Due to the compressed nature of the program no make-up days are permitted. Class is from 0800-1630 and students must be on time. For more information click the Register Today button above.

Partnership Nursing Orientation (PNO)

PNO is now done online in Healthstream for all new RNs and LVNs. This online course is automatically assigned based on hire date and new nurses have 30 days to complete it. This may be worked into your first week of site orientation or nurse educators may allow it to be done a a later date. The course consists of the following modules:

  • National Patient Safety Goals
  • Restraint Management
  • Advanced Pain Management
  • Organ Donation--TOSA, Eye Bank, Tissue Center
